Orientation

Studio School Class of 2023—Welcome to Orientation Week! Throughout the week you will participate in assessments for your discipline, tours, meet your mentors, attend seminars about life in Los Angeles, and more.

Orientation is a crash course in campus life and student services with a festive dose of collaborative activities. Jump in. Play. Don’t worry about getting it right. Just let everything be wonderfully new.

New Student Guide

Below is some useful information to prepare for Orientation Week 2019. Individual audition material, assessment schedules, and details will be sent to you in a separate email from our Live Production Coordinator, Bridget Flanery.

Important Dates To Remember

August 19/20: Mandatory Assessments for Commercial Dance, Acting and Contemporary Musical Theatre students AND any students who wish to take Dance or Musical Theatre classes as an elective (*see special note below).
August 21/22: PM Callbacks for plays and the movie musical.
August 21: First Day of New Student Orientation and Family Orientation.
August 22/23: Student Orientation (attendance is required for all orientation days).

Please refer to the Academic Calendar for additional dates to note throughout the semester.

Additional Information

Be sure to RSVP for any family members who will be attending Family Orientation.

No personal appointments should be made away from campus during Orientation Week. Please be prepared to attend all events.

*Special Note on Assessment and Audition policy:

If you are not a Musical Theatre or Commercial Dance major but would like to take a singing or dance class as an elective, you must attend the appropriate dance assessment or musical theatre assessment to be considered for these classes. Freshmen will receive their class schedules after Assessments are complete. In general, classes may be scheduled from Monday through Friday from 8a-9p.
