Studio School FAQs

Where is Studio School located?

We are located at Los Angeles Center Studios in downtown Los Angeles, an active 20-acre studio complex for TV, film and commercial production. Just a few of the TV shows and films that have shot here include: Mad Men, Bones, Californication, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Die Hard, and The Day After Tomorrow.

Can I change my Faculty Advisor?

Totally—they won’t take it personally. You can request someone new at any time and we will make the selection or you can request someone specific so long as they are approved for Faculty Advisement and have availability to add new students.

How many students will attend Studio School?

There will be approximately 30-40 students per program in the inaugural year, with enrollment numbers expanding each subsequent term. Only 10 students per BFA program will be accepted into the inaugural class starting October 2014. Enrollment for the January 2015 and August 2015 start dates will be based on the quality of applicants and available spots by discipline with 10-12 students per section.

Will I be able to work while in school?

It is generally not advisable, particularly in your first year so that you can maximize your college experience and get a grasp of your schedule and time management. The Studio School experience is rigorous and much of our students’ education is project-based—requiring substantial time outside of class hours. Determining your schedule is up to you, however, and some students may find a part-time job possible.

What are your faculty credentials?

All of the Faculty at Studio School have demonstrated substantial professional expertise and must have an MFA degree or equivalent industry experience in the courses for which they teach.
