Sal Romeo’s career as an educator, director and producer spans over 30 years in Los Angeles and New York. He is a noted authority on the Stanislavski System and its distillation through the likes of Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, and Kristen Linklater. Training actors, teachers and directors, Sal is inspired by students that show up self-aware, motivated, and eager to be challenged. His method is unique to each individual, because each person’s growth is in a constant state of flux; what worked for a student three weeks, or minutes, ago may not work for him in the present moment.
Sal founded the Friends and Artists Theatre Ensemble which garnered 30 various critics awards for acting, producing and directing in Los Angeles. As resident director of the Grove Shakespeare Festival, his Taming of the Shrew production won a critics award for Best Director. He was the Artistic Director of the Bethany Colony Playhouse Summer Stock Theatre in the Poconos, PA, and he has built four different theaters, three of which are still operating.
At his Toluca Lake Studio, Sidewalk Studio, Sal teaches and coaches international film, television and stage actors including winners of Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG, Tony, and Grammy Awards. He has been married to his best friend, Laurie Wendorf, for 36 years.
